I have been painting with acrylics for the past 28 years. Most of my work falls into the genre of surrealism. Much of my art involves themes of death(the Thanatos drive). My two favorite artists are Salvador Dali and H.R. Giger. I have been heavily influenced by their work because it deals with fears and urges of the ID that are deemed unacceptable by society. I have my PhD in Social Psychology and have also been heavily influenced by the writings of Freud, Jung and Cambell. I think that good artwork often pushes buttons that make us feel uncomfortable. In doing so, it forces us to address our idinal/animalistic components or to deny their existence. I choose to face them head on and that is why I identify so much with the aforementioned artists. I have included a few of my works. I have painted approximately 75 paintings during this 28 year span and hope to paint 75 more.
